 Skiing Finnegans

Well, I really haven't gotten out much on the sticks this spring due to a multitude of things: not so great weather, rock climbing, and oh yeah a 7-1/2 month old little lady. However, we got out this past Sunday under some gorgeous sunshine and intermittent clouds on one of my backyard 12ers and wanted to include a little link to my write-up. For moderate skiing and a nice little 12er adventure, our local peak visible from Edwards/I-70 dubbed "Finnegans" surely didn't disappoint. Some darn fun skiing. If you check it out, thanks for reading.

Great outing! Good thing 12ers are so awful and not worth going near ever.

Nobody should ever go near a 12er.

Very nice report, Brandon. Good to see you back!

...12ers are awful. Agreed

Thanks for your comments and, yes, Natalie, Joel is a 14ers dude. I think he subscribed on here to give some weather forecast or something. Go figure.

Otis Peak

That point at the end of the ridge stretching north from Gold Dust Peak has also been called Otis Peak. Funny how it looks like an awesome peak from Edwards and then you summit and it’s just the end of the ridge between the branches of East and West Lake Creek. Someday I’m going to get up the "real" Finnegan’s, but it’s an exposed and technical traverse. And the gendarmes on the ridge between Finnegan’s and Gold Dust peak are an adventure in themselves!

...I’ve never heard that point called Otis Peak, but I like it! Thanks for your input. Yep, I made its two summits south of Otis/Finnegans one jaunt up there before we turned back just because how late it was in the day and I had my dogs with me, but someday I’d like to ridge run from Otis to Gold Dust. Definitely an adventurous ridge!
