I decided to document my Nolan's 14 recon last year which I did in the form of a thru-hike of the line starting at the Shavano Trailhead, and ending at the Leadville Fish Hatchery. This video is the result. Backpacking 14ers is a niche activity for sure, but it is possible - albeit challenging. Early-ish season conditions created the most frustrating challenges, as I was oftentimes bogged down in pockets of unsupportive snow hidden in the trees between the peaks.

I've also put up all my notes on how to do such a thing in its very own guide at,

https://slowlans.longmayyourange.com

The guide is free, as is the Caltopo Map I've created that has then actual tracks, and labeled resources (water, camping, etc).

Unfortunately, my Nolan's 14 run - the fourth time I've attempted it, didn't go as planned - I bailed after just Princeton. I'll have to one day try again.

Thanks for making the video. It's hard enough to do all the miles and navigation let alone filming along the way.

I liked where you thought you left your sleeping bag behind and decided to go back and get it, then found it! Whew! What a relief! Super perseverance and cool video! WOW

especially since it's not a $500 sleeping bag anymore - it's now a $600 sleeping bag!

I've enjoyed watching the installments. Looks like quite an adventure, especially with so much snow to deal with.
